Paperback - 2010

This book explores politically charged topics through a series of essays by thinkers at the leading edge of educational innovation. It shows how failing schools destroy neighborhoods--not the reverse--and how research reveals that dedicated, attentive teachers are what help at-risk kids succeed. Inspired the film directed by "An Inconvenient Truth"'s Davis Guggenheim.

Oh golly!
// . . . from some of those at the leading edge of educational innovation, including Bill and Melinda Gates, Michelle Rhee, Geoffrey Canada. . . \\ Puuhlease! While this movie was either partially, or fully, financed by Bill Gates, Gates has moved in the perverse direction of even more corporate-oriented education [wrong, wrong, wrong] than a meritocratic educational system, and the problems with the existing one is that it is a capitalist educational system, hence its utter failure! We all aren't blessed with a mom who sat on several boards with the then-CEO of IBM, who would award Gates with the greatest licensing deal in human history, and then Gates would hire a dude who copied [stole] Gary Kildall's operating systems [CP/M] and renaming it DOS [not only did the original version still have Gary's notes when it was disassembled, but Micro$oft would later settle out of court for $1 billion with the owners of the rights to that program - - I believe it was the founders of Netware who then owned them], and finance the company venture thanks to his uncle being vice president at First Interstate - - connections are everything, just ask Fred Smith of Federal Express [rather timid of confessing his, I'm afraid!!!].
Recomment the following instead of this propaganda tract: New Prophets of Capital, by Nicole Aschoff /// Sold Out, by Michelle Malkin with John Miano /// Outsourcing America by Ron Hira [and everything about the co-founder of the India Caucus in congress, Jim McDermott, and his efforts to sell out the American worker - - but he's supposed to be a progressive? Yeah, right . . .]
