Top Picks: Meryl Streep Movies
When it comes to acting, it’s hard to imagine a more critically acclaimed and genre fluid actress than Meryl Streep. With 21 Oscar nominations and three wins for best actress and best supporting actress, she has done everything from period dramas, to comedies, musicals, romantic dramas, and everything in-between. This year is a particular milestone for Meryl Streep who turns 70 on June 22.… (more)
The Empty Nest
So my youngest child just left to start junior year in college. What will I do now that I don't have half-empty glasses littering my coffee table, unmade beds to make and candy wrappers in my cushions to collect and dispose of? Seriously, I truly do miss the company and who in the world is going to turn my Roku on so I can catch up on House of Cards. I mean how does that thing work? Everyone … (more)

Summary
Add a SummaryWhen attending their son's college graduation, a couple reignite the spark in their relationship...but the complicated fact is they're divorced and he's remarried.
Jane (Streep) is the mother of three grown kids, owns a thriving Santa Barbara bakery/restaurant and has--after a decade of divorce--an amicable relationship with her ex-husband, attorney Jake (Baldwin). But when Jane and Jake find themselves out of town for their son's college graduation, things start to get complicated. An innocent meal together turns into the unimaginable--an affair. With Jake remarried to the much younger Agness (Lake Bell), Jane is now, of all things, the other woman.
Caught in the middle of their renewed romance is Adam (Martin), an architect hired to remodel Jane's kitchen. Healing from a divorce of his own, Adam starts to fall for Jane, but soon realizes he's become part of a love triangle.
Should Jane and Jake move on with their lives, or is love truly lovelier the second time around? It's...complicated.

Add a CommentOk, it's not the best Meryl Streep movie, but, come on ... Meryl Streep! John Krasinski is wasted in this. Sad. Nice low-key performance from Martin. Alex is in a very prickly position being forced to be a jerk and get naked for the film. But, hey, he did it. :)
See it more than once. Each time you see it you appreciate it more. It speaks to the complexities of love, marriage, divorce, family, and life. Humorous and touching. Beautifully shot, acted, and directed. Thank you Nancy Meyers!
Great cast all around! Loved Steve Martin as the hero to Meryl Streep's heroine! Baldwin makes a great anti-hero- I kept wanting him to leave Streep's character alone. What did I know? The writers had a great plot. Fantastic writing-I kept yelling at Meryl Streep's character! Glad the writers went so many miles with the story. Excellent job! Worth watching again-which is rare for me.
Great script, funny and relaxing movie...Wonderful chemistry between actors and great acting! Meryl Streep is so natural in this role. Not so sure about Steve Martin’s romantic role. Timeless!
Great movie but needs a sequil to see who gets who for keeps.
Nearly every actor in the film, big and small parts, even extras, are beautiful or handsome. And the characters are all upper middle class/wealthy. I found both irritating (jealous perhaps?). I had no interest in the story or characters, but perhaps if you like "chick flicks", you'll disagree with me.
For what this movie is, I thought this was well done. Streep and Baldwin are excellent, although normally I can’t stand Steve Martin, he was good in this movie too. A light easy movie to watch, keeping it funny rather than serious with some good comedy pieces. Better than most rom coms out there.
good
Loved it! Alec Baldwin and John Krasinski are both hilarious. Didn't really buy Steve Martin in that role, but overall really enjoyable. Great family chemistry.
I loved this movie... I think it is full of truth about age, personal comfort, and relationships that I am able to appreciate better because I am middle-aged.
