With a masterful interplay of past and present, Woolf captures a single day in one woman's life. As Mrs. Clarissa Dalloway makes arrangements for a party, she remembers her youth, considers the crushing effects of the Great War, and reexamines the reasons behind her practical marriage. In getting ready to welcome her guests, Clarissa also prepares to face the next stage of her life. Now in her 50s, she begins to consider the changes old age will bring.

“What a lark! What a plunge!" No two ways about it, this "modernist" classic is eminently suited to an audio telling...

For the most part, the inner musings of Clarissa, Peter, Richard and to a lesser extent, Septimus, flow magically, seamlessly... and well, fluidly.

The social commentary underlying this famous story about a dinner party is, in retrospect, a tad contrived. Some characters are never fully developed.

These are minor flaws in an otherwise remarkable work of art.
