Before there was Ice Cube, Ice-T, and Ice Kream, there was Iceberg Slim, a Chicago-born pimp turned writer. As Ice-T tells it, "Iceberg Slim is synonymous with the pimp game and is the blueprint to being the ultimate player." Slim is the ultimate player of urban crime fiction (although Chester Himes is a way better writer). Pretty sure he also coined the term "big pimpin."
Didn't like it
Unlike Iceberg Slim's previous novel about "White Folks" (Trick Baby), this one doesn't ring true. Here "White Folks" is pulling the "long con" for big money among rich white people, and here there isn't the feeling that Iceberg Slim is writing from experience. It reads like a fantasy, and the dialog, especially that of the rich white people, sound cliched and unreal.
