Great writing- on par with Lovecraft.

Although this book was written in the 1930's and early 1940's it reads well. The stories still inspire a sense of wonder or horror and this speaks to Clark Ashton Smith's skill. It would be easy to say that the short stories in the book are derivative or imitate others only....he wrote them first. Still original and refreshing.
