This is a highly fictionalized drama of what might have taken place, but history is always written by the victors. Nothing is said about the USA being involved in installing Saddam to power, and nothing is said about baiting him into war with Iran and Kuwait. He was a puppet of Nixon to get rid of Qasim, then Ford and Carter wanted nothing to do with him because Saudi Arabia had the US by the balls over oil. So Reagan inherited a boiling pot, but had more to deal with than some stupid dictator that he thought would never be a problem to the western world. And history shows that Reagan was right to ignore one thing, and pay more attention to the Soviet/Russia issue at that time.

Daddy Bush, being connected to big oil, had to take some action, but didn't go far enough to oust Saddam from power. Then came Clinton, and he was more concerned with his willy than international politics, but baby Bush did as daddy told him and finished the job his dad had started.

Very little of the American and British involvement of destabilizing the region is even mentioned in this four part drama, and none of the writers of this were privy to conversations that went on in the private palaces of Saddam's family. But we do have some factual information, and that's incorporated into this series very well because dates and times can't be changed in a history that just occured. But it's still a fictional view of actual events.

Uday's character is played very well by Philip Arditti, and Sajida is acted by that sultry woman with the smokey voice, Shohreh Aghdashloo. You may not know her by name, but you will certainly recognize her from other work she has done. It's always worth watching something if she's in it.

I'm going to give this 4 stars because I was entertained, and I'd give it a higher rating if they had managed to put a bit more truth into something we know the history of.

As one who has always wondered about the private life and family of dictators, this show was very satisfying. Although I realize that it may not be accurate at all, it was still very interesting to watch. The actors were all fantastic, as was the presentation.

No great revelations, but it makes for an interesting drama.
