I liked the idea of this book, but the book itself, not so much. In the intro, the author wonders if **he** can really do a non-fiction book on female friendship. My take is that he didn't do the best job here. Sometimes I had a lot of trouble keeping the eleven women apart, and because the styles they wore in the pictures were so similar, they didn't always help. Some of them I didn't think he distinguished from the others as well as he could have--or did he do that on purpose, to protect their privacy? Or is it because a man really doesn't have the key to what makes women's relationships tick? The book was easy to follow as long as I didn't stress out about who was being discussed, and just went with the flow. I did wish some of the mysteries had been explored more, like the adoption. I felt I knew Marilyn more, because she explored the issue of her brother's death and its aftermath--that was a unique incident that made her stand out in my mind.

I really enjoyed this book! Being from Iowa myself, I immediately felt I could relate to many of the girls in the story.

As skylars mentioned, I, too, had to refer to the group photo often to see who was who.

If you love your girlfriends, and Iowa, too, I recommend this book. It's a quick read, with a few surprises here and there.

Pretty hard keeping track of all those girls until about half way through. Had to keep referring to pictures to see who was who. Also, couldn't relate with girls, and it ended up being a lot about Kelly, who was my least favorite.
