Superhero Series Inspire Love of Reading

My son was a late bloomer when it came to reading on his own. He loved books, but only if Mom read to him. Then his after-school teacher gave him a book that changed our lives forever! The Adventures Of Captain Underpants awoke something in my son that no other book could—his love of reading. It was like a switch flipped: He tore through all the books and has even reread them. This is a great series and this book in particular is well done. Having librarians as villains fighting video games with classic books that come alive is very cool! The Lunch Lady teaches them that books and video games can coexist in the end, which is a well-rounded non-preachy literacy message.

The Lunch Lady is back! And this time, she is fighting the librarians, who seem to be up to something nefarious. Luckily she has her fellow lunch lady and inventor, Betty as well as her three student fans Hector, Terrence, and Dee to help out. But can they stop the librarians in time to prevent the most horrible thing ever happening?

Very cute... I might recommend it to younger readers since I think older readers are going to want more action and less kitsch value. The adventures and story line are very simple but it's still a cute idea.
