Taking the thoughts from my jaded 16-year-old head, I am grossly now embarrassed to admit I thought like this, with the exception that at one point my city was a towering behemoth of artistry and chicness. Now its become an unaffordable dump with the real talent leaving en masses. I understand that this was written for teenage outcasts and misfits that don't exactly fit in with the "status quo" about finding a place a world that doesn't get your oddities. I just couldn't connect, I could though snigger and snark on how blind I was to what was obviously cool. Which was not being a complete jackass to other people simply because their concept of survival is different then yours.

Bliss Cavendar, an indie-rock-loving misfit stuck in the tiny town of Bodeen, Texas. Her pageant-addicted mother expects her to compete for the coveted Miss Bluebonnet crown, but Bliss would rather feast on roaches than be subjected to such rhinestone tyranny.
Bliss’s escape? Roller Derby.
When she discovers a league in nearby Austin, Bliss embarks on an epic journey full of hilarious tattooed girls, hot boys in bands, and a few not-so-awesome realities even the most hard-core derby chick has to learn.
