I found that this series was wonderful and beautiful. They did not have and incestuous relationship. They were step-brother and sister.I think that Charlaine Harris is an exceptional author. She is definitely on my Favorite Authors list.

The final Harper Connelly book didn't satisfy as much as I would have hoped simply because Tolliver was out of the picture for much of the time. I loved the Tolliver-Harper interactions in the previous novels. However, it's a worthy ending to this excellent series and enjoyable all the same.

I find it disheartening that people are rating down the book for inaccurate reasons. This is not an incestuous or even borderline incestuous relationship. The Harper and Tolliver characters are not blood relatives and are only connected through the marriage of their parents. They only began living together as "a family" when they were in their mid and late teens. I'm sorry, but I would not consider a 17 year old boy my brother simply because my mother married his father when I was 15. No doing. This is not incest.

The Tolliver and Harper relationship is very supportive, strong, and beautiful. It's a love story of two damaged characters who are able to find a sense of family with each other - something that had been denied them for most of their lives because of their horrid parents. If people can't appreciate the strength and beauty of this relationship in the novels, they need to get their minds out of inaccurate gutters.

That's my spiel.

The whole step brother-sister but not really related hook up thing just bothers me, especially because in the first book it was pounded into my brain that it was a very platonic thing. That and what is CH's obsession with pock marked men? Yuck!

Finished this story in two days, throughly enjoyed it and am sad to see the end of this series, but happy to have all the questions answered.

Excellent series with an intriguing lead - stayed up to midnight to read it from start to finish. Hoping this will be a long series

I came into this book with two bias. First, I very much enjoy Harris' work. And second, I do not enjoy the borderline incestuous relationship that had begun in the previous book. That aside, I found it to be a fun, fast read. While the relationship was an inescapable part of the story, it also wrapped out several outstanding questions and led the series to a satisfying point. Given that Harris had said a few years ago that there would be no more Harper stories, this was a blessing to fans. I can only hope that Lily Bard will get similar treatment.

Another fun Charlaine Harris novel. I look forward to following Harper's adventures.

After doing a job for the wealthy Joyce family, Harper and Tolliver face their toughest challenge yet: telling super-rigid Aunt Iona, Uncle Hank and their younger half-sisters that they're a couple. It doesn't help that this town is also where they lived as the abused blended family of neglectful junkies, and where Harper's beloved sister Cameron mysteriously vanished. As if their family relations weren't strained enough, Tolliver's father Matthew appears in town, claiming he wants to mend fences.

At the same time, Harper has been hired (sort of) by the Joyces to find a missing baby that may be their grandfather's secret love child -- but someone is determined to keep her from finding it. People around her are getting injured, kidnapped and murdered -- even Tolliver has been shot. And as Harper tries to unravel the mysteries from years ago, she realizes that the Joyce family has a long-ago link to her own...
This is a touching, sorrowful but excelllent mystery and pulls together the mystery of Harper,Tolliver, their missing sister and the rest of the family and how they dealt with what was going on in their lives as abused /neglected children. They finally find out the truth behind their missing sister and are a able to resolve that mystery, although not in a happy way. This is a haunting story, an excellent mystery and a great ending to the Harper Connelly Series.
