"Juhasz bravely and expertly exposes the inner workings of an industry and a government riddled with secrets, lies, and deception."
--Daniel Ellsberg, author of Secrets: A Memoir of Vietnam and the Pentagon Papers

In the tradition of the Academy Award-winning documentary An Inconvenient Truth , Antonia Juhasz's The Tyranny of Oil offers a chilling expos#65533; of the modern American oil industry and its dire abuse of power. A leading international trade and finance policy expert and the author of The Bush Agenda, Juhasz presents eye-opening truths about a potentially catastrophic global energy crisis that only promises to get much worse in the coming years--and provides possible solutions for meaningful change. Terry Tamminen, former Secretary of the California Environmental Protection Agency, calls The Tyranny of Oil " a bold blueprint for ending the madness," and the Christian Science Monitor tells us, "a good first step toward true energy independence is to read this insightful book."

I guess Ms. Juhasz is an oil expert, at least that's what the reviewer claims. I guess Ms. Juhasz knows something about oil corporations, since she is forever repeating their progapaganda memes and treating them as some form of monolithic enemy, without ever evincing the least amount of thought to reflect upon the obvious: someone owns those oil companies? Why is this so beyond the airheaded, muddled thinking (one assumes it isn't purposeful disingenuousness) of Ms. Juhasz? Sadly, and unforgiveably, Ms. Juhasz exemplifies pure stupidity in repeating the paper mythology of the "breakup" of Standard OIl, John Moody can only be laughing from his grave, even he understood such a thing never happened, excepting on paper. Rockefeller's oil company's stock was traded on the opaque Curb Market, not the somewhat more transparent stock market, which allowed him to transfer his wealth and ownership to a large network of foundations - - avoiding taxation while establishing even greater control of its stock. Clueless appears to be the existing state of Ms. Juhasz, but do send her money and buy her hapless books, as that appears to be what she's all about! (Bill McGibben, James Howard Kunstler, Antonia Juhasz, and Steve Coll: confused and muddled people, or The Corporation's "activists"? For anyone who believe's Juhasz got it right on the history of Rockefeller's Standard Oil, today called ExxonMobil, please read Rep. Wright Patman's congressional study on foundations and trusts, circa 1967-1968.)
