'Yeah,' Jace said, 'he's terrified I'll tell everyone that he's always really wanted to be a ballerina.'"
How convenient. Everyone's either unconscious or apparently delirious.- The Inquisitor
"I'll just have them change the entry in the demonology textbook from 'almost extinct' to 'not extinct enough for Alec. He prefers his monsters really, really extinct.' Will that make you happy?"
-Jace Wayland
Isabelle drifted over, Jace a pace behind her. She was wearing a long black dress with boots and an even longer cutaway coat of soft green velvet, the color of moss.
Isabelle: "I can't believe you did it! How did you get Magnus to let Jace leave?"
Clary: "Traded him for Alec."
Isabelle: "Not permanently?"
Jace: "No. Just for a few hours. Unless I don't come back. In which case, maybe he does get to keep Alec. Think of it as a lease with an option to buy."
Isabelle: "Mom and Dad won't be pleased if they find out."
Simon: "That you freed a possible criminal by trading away your brother to a warlock who looks like Sonic the Hedgehog and dress like the Child Catcher from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang? No, probably not."
Simon: "Is standing by the window muttering about blood something he does all the time?"
Jace: "No. Sometimes he sits on the couch and does it."
Simon: "Is standing by the window muttering about blood something he does all the time?"
Jace: "No. Sometimes he sits on the couch and does it."
"No, I'm just a very naughty boy. I do all sorts of bad things. I kick kittens. I make rude gestures at nuns."
"You see, cuckoos are parasites. They lay their eggs in other birds' nests. When the egg hatches, the baby cuckoo pushes the other baby birds out of the nest. The poor parent birds work themselves to death trying to find enough food to feed the enormous cuckoo child who has murdered their babies and taken their places."
"Enormous?" said Jace. "Did you just call me fat?"
"It was an analogy."
"I am not fat."

Summary
Add a SummaryClary Fray just wishes that her life would go back to normal. But what's normal when you're a demon-slaying Shadowhunter, your mother is in a magically induced coma, and you can suddenly see Downworlders like werewolves, vampires, and faeries? If Clary left the world of the Shadowhunters behind, it would mean more time with her best friend, Simon, who's becoming more than a friend. But the Shadowhunting world isn't ready to let her go — especially her handsome, infuriating, newfound brother, Jace. And Clary's only chance to help her mother is to track down rogue Shadowhunter Valentine, who is probably insane, certainly evil — and also her father.
Another installment of Clary and Jace and their struggle to defeat the demons of the underground
a girl whose got major issues with supernatural creatures and the worlds worst father attempts to keep him from destroying earth with the help of her friends and brother whom shes in love with...yep MAJOR issues there...
I couldn't put this book down. It's a great sequel to City Of Bones, you could even say it's better. It has its problems, but those are things you can get pass because the story just absorbs you completely. There was a lot of action and suspense with this one, but it was equally amazing. I can't wait to read City Of Glass!

This second book in the series did not waste anytime. This allows for more development in the characters relationship with each other and it was very nice not having to review the first book. So starting off with the big new relationship in the book was the fact that Clary and Jace find out they are siblings. I know a lot of audiences found this book very uncomfortable to read after reading their emotions of each other while knowing their new relationship. In The Mortal Instrument series you need to put yourself in that position or you are never going to understand the process. They did not know each other and developed a romance before knowing at all which when you find out their siblings the switch does not always click. They cannot just turn off the emotions that they felt a day ago about each other. Another thing to note is that this book takes place within weeks. You will not see longterm development as much. You will get a few new introduction of characters and see more personal emotions than in City of Bones. The description of Simon and Clary relationship is described beautifully because sometimes in the way they communicate Clary gets almost revolted by the romance of it. She knows in her heart what she feels but she needs this safety net and that is what Simon provides. The way Clary and Jace have these emotional back and forth thoughts about each other is well written in this war between each other and their hatred for their so called father. What happens in the seelie court was an emotional turning point in the book for all three characters. Besides the emotional aspect we had the plot which was great. We even get to see and hear more about the relationship between Magnus and Alec. We get to see more of the different species and their skills through Simon and on their adventures. Hopefully we see more of Isabelle's thoughts through the rest of the series.
This is my favourite series by far, best franchise. The book always makes you feel like your in the action at all time.
This book immediately started with action, and dived right into the plot of the story, which I appreciate since sometimes sequels will spend a lot of time going over what had happened in the previous book. I listened to the audiobook of this, and while I wasn't sure if I liked the narrator at first, I ended up really enjoying Natalie Moore's narration and the different voices she gave the characters. This book was so entertaining that I felt like the entirety of it flew by so fast. Now, I am eager to start the third audiobook.
If you enjoyed the first book in this series, you will definitely enjoy this one. It jumps straight into the action and includes a lot of plot twists. This book focuses more on the relationships between character to character, including love and hate. The protagonist must cope with the changes between her old and new life, and learns of her never-seen-before ability and its potential. In my opinion, the best part must be the love triangle as it creates more dilemmas, which only leads to more drama. They definitely should have made a second movie after the first because the novel was amazing. 4.5/5

This book is a sequel to City of Bones. It talks about Clary Fray who is a Shadowhunter who kills demons. Clary would just like life to be normal again but She can see werewolves, faeries, vampires now. Also, her mother is in magically induced come. In this book, Clary and her new brother Jace try to find her father Valentine. Valentine is a rogue shadow hunter. He's very evil. That's just a couple of the obstacles in her world, there are many more in this book.
I liked the story, I couldn't stop reading. My favourite character so far is Magnus Baine. I love how Cassandra Clare goes into so many wonderful details to make this book come alive. You really feel like your there. It takes you in.
I would totally recommend this book tho everyone. it was a little of everything for everyone.

Great book!
Old fave!
This was a great book, though it was a bit slow at some parts. The ending was not as expected and I liked the first book better but still a great book in the series.
