I was pleasantly surprised with this CD. I expected a bland, overrated production but Anita O'Day really delivered. I like her use of stoccato and her ability to match quick percussive instrumentals. Not only does she have a unique singing voice ( limited range but soulful,) she also has a surprisingly good sense of rhythm, something that sets her apart from some of her contemporaries. I also didn't know she was from Chicago so it was nice to get to know her music. Its vintage stuff but I think its worth revisiting.
