Add a QuoteIt can be so very hard to accept that someone so close to you, someone who's supposed to love you, can brutalize and control you. That brutality, that control starts to breed worthlessness, and that feeling that you can't do any better. And sometimes, we do. We get that feeling that... We can go. We gotta get up outta there. If we wanna go, we can go! And then we get scared. Start to feel like there's no escape. You're confused and not know what's real and what's not real. And there's something, there's something inside of us, something that we know is down there, and we recognize it, we all do. That's how we got here. We recognize that we have value. And we reached up and we reached out and we got some help.
And we grabbed that freedom
and got outta there.
Well, I met him at 16 years old. I had a daughter at the age of 17. I moved in with him, at his mother's house. Everything was fine until like a year later, I started getting punched.

If anyone ever hurts you, or Leon, you tell someone. You tell as many people
as you can.

We'd trek into the woods, build our own shelter, hunt and forage for food, do our own first aid. He would... set my bones. After he broke them. When I broke the rules.

I don't have any friends. If I wanted to socialize, the money came out of Cody's food budget, so I just didn't go out. And I wasn't allowed to work. Because that's a husband's role. I was a very good wife.

I love you. I can't help it. Even after all this... I still love you.
-I thought it was love you had. But it's not. It's need. Desperate... perverted... need.

Add a CommentThe She-Equalizer. Olivia Wilde portraying a very pissed vigilante trying to do right by the victimized while dealing with her own psychological and financial problems. Let's just say heavy on the drama with a smattering of action.
Virtually every scene plods along at a snail's pace, overshadowing Olivia Wilde's portrayal of a physically and emotionally tortured woman.
The subject matter (domestic abuse) already has a bad name. The quality of this film adds another.
Poorly made film, with confusing plot and ridiculous logic, to the point of being outright annoying. Good intentions gone to waste.
Terrifying with a clear message.
The story of a female "equalizer." The subject was made famous on TV by the great British actor Edward Woodward who became famous for his lead role in the award winning film "Breaker Morant." Also see Denzel Washington in the films "The Equalizer" and "The Equalizer 2." This film demonstrates that a great film can still be made for almost no money. I almost pity domestic abusers who accidentally view this film and realize their abused spouses might see it and retaliate in very unpleasant ways.
The films is slow-paced but punctuated by scenes of violence. Sometimes very brutal violence. I find at a couple of places there are scenes of incoherence - e.g. has the protagonist become a lethal fighter and if so why was she subdued so easily by her abusive husband. Overall, though, it was a decent watch in the 'feel good' category.
An action packed movie with fast paced scenes!
.
Decent but the beginning was EXACTLY the same as the last Dragon Tattoo movie. The rest was fairly original although nothing special.

If you want to see tough acting of Olivia Wilde, this is the ones. Topic is quite serious but still happen in this world!
Tough subject.
