Add a CommentI usually don't expect any logic in disaster/animal attack/monster movies. But this one will test your common sense. There are couple of jump scares otherwise pretty bad writing and acting. Lot of plot holes, non-sensical scenes and no logic at all.
A swimmer's crawl from one bad plan into the jaws of another
Men vs gators. Premature script. There are one or two good flashback scenes of juvenile Haley and her dad, otherwise only meaningless suspenseful scenes.
Bloody and scary. Hide-and-go-seek with long snout Jaws.
But it's on the verge of going overboard with the unrelenting mighty struggle between human and reptile.
Pretty suspenseful film with a lot of well timed jump scares, good gore effects for being mostly shot in water, and I thought the actors did a really nice job in making you care about them.
Only flaws I had here was the alligators looked great in some shots and then looked almost Syfy original movie like in some areas. The other thing was that the ending was left ambiguous, which here was just okay. But apart of me wanted to see just a tad more.
Overall fun killer gator movie.
The movie started like a mysterious thriller. A girl tried to find his missing father during a hurricane. After finding the injured father in the crawl space underneath their house, I expected that the movie would continue and show how they had been trapped and escaped from the water floods, instead two alligators appeared and attacked them. It seemed a little bit unreasonable, on the whole, the film is enjoyable.
SWEARING: Same kind of swearing as in the movie that I rated earlier in Gravity. A bunch of 4 letter S words and F words , because the characters in the movie were frustrated. Quite a bit more F and S words in this movie than Gravity.
This movie is similar to Gravity, except Gravity takes place in space. Suspenseful , just like it says on the DVD case . And like Gravity , I have seen better . And I have seen much worse. Just another Hollywood scary movie. Its a good movie if you want to fill in time. And that's about it. If you want to watch some really good movies, I would suggest... House of Flying Daggers; or Fushigi yûgi, the mysterious play .
I liked the simplicity of the set up: hurricanes, basements, gators! It's kinda dumb but tense and gory with decent acting by the leads. For more hot gator on gator action, check out "Lake Placid" and "Primeval."
A good thriller with a quite a few jump scares! I do believe that this movie was a bit far fetched but it's a movie so that was okay!
Really solid horror/thriller movie! Loved Kaya Scodelario as the main protagonist.
