Supposedly a feel-great docudrama based on a true story. If you have gone through the freewheeling, free-loving 1960s, you could love this film to the bare reel.

This fun and funny movie captured the power and solace of rock music, the idea of freedom, enjoyment, acceptance and the value of radio in this era. Behind the satire of establishment characters was a true impression of "Blue Meannies"…

Unapologetically sentimental, especially with its non-stop soundtrack of classic 60s tracks which seems to offer just the right song for every dramatic twist, writer/director Richard Curtis' "feel good" evocation of Britain’s Carnaby…

This is an immensely fun movie. If you're a fan of British comedy or of rock 'n roll at all, you will enjoy this film. It contains a lot of big British names, including Bill Nighy, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Rhys Ifans, Chris O'Dowd,…

A rollicking and ribald period comedy set in the heyday of pirate of radio in the UK, 1966. The main character "Young" Carl is sent to live with this godfather on a pirate radio vessel in an attempt to straighten himself out. The film is…

Careful attention by viewer is rewarded because every line of dialogue, whether spoken by the radio station people or the government people, is clever and usually hilarious. Well played by all the actors and actresses. Never heard of it…
One of the best music movies I've ever seen! watching the deleted scenes is a must as most (40mins) were for time not content. As for "badgirls" comment, that's like complaining about movies about Hitler portraying him as a sick individual!

Oh gawd-did they really think it was funny making rape jokes, unzipping their pants etc. live on radio back then?
"Pirate Radio" needs to walk the plank.

Similar coming of age piece to "Almost Famous" which also featured a great soundtrack and PSH. I'd like to get a hold of the unreleased soundtrack, as there was way more music in the film than contained in the CD soundtrack.

Only 4 stars as the movie story line is more of a guy thing. However, the music is wonderful. Haven't heard many of the songs since the 60's, as Oldie stations do not play a lot of them. The story is mostly true. The main discrepancy…

I loved this but if you watch it make sure you watch the bonus parts especially the dance scene. The music was wonderful! I don't know if the storyline has much truth to it but having lived in that era it was all pretty much believable to…

Such a fun movie! Absolutely, love it. If you like classic rock, particularly British rock, and have an infinite affection toward music, you'll love this movie.

Pleasant, but sloppy fun project. Waiting for a real version, which could rock the whole place--smokin' weed in the record library, a la WZBC, kind of thing...all the stories of busting commercial radio in the '60's. Many great tales to…
