On July 24, 1915, Western Electric was holding its annual company picnic and people were looking forward to being ferried across to Michigan City. Instead, one of the city's greatest tragedies unfolded. The S.S. Eastland capsized, drowning 844 people in front of a horrified crowd. Join us for this month's book discussion of The Sinking of the Eastland .
