This is a family-friendly program designed to learn about the life and work of Dr. Leonidas Berry. As an introduction to his collection and his impact in Chicago, participants will be putting together a model plane like the ones used by the Flying Black Medics, of which he was a founding organizer.
Presented as part of the Renaissance Project, this event invites participants to actively engage with the rich and often untold stories of Black history and heritage at Chicago Public Library.
This program is made possible with support from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to the Chicago Public Library Foundation.
How to Attend
Register by the start of the event. Chicago Public Library cannot collect personal information online from kids 0 to 13. A parent or guardian’s email address must be used to register. As a reminder, school email addresses may block external emails such as those from CPS.
Participants must arrive at least half an hour before the end of the program in order to have time to work.
