Adult Book Discussion: Olga Dies Dreaming

6:00 PM – 7:00 PM

Description

Join Hall Branch for a discussion of Olga Dies Dreaming by Xochitl Gonzalez.

It's 2017, and Olga and her brother, Pedro "Prieto" Acevedo, are boldfaced names in New York City: Prieto, a popular congressman representing their gentrifying Brooklyn neighborhood; Olga, tony wedding planner for Manhattan's power brokers. Years ago, their mother, Blanca, a Young Lord turned radical, abandoned her children to advance a militant political cause. Now, in the wake of the most devastating hurricane in Puerto Rico's history, Blanca has come barreling back into their lives. Olga Dies Dreaming examines the very notion of the American Dream - all while asking what it really means to weather a storm.
