November Adult Book Discussion: Olga Dies Dreaming by Xochitl Gonzalez

11:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Bucktown-Wicker Park

Description

Join us in November for a discussion of official One Book, One Chicago selection Olga Dies Dreaming by Xochitl Gonzalez.

Siblings Olga & Pedro "Prieto" Acevedo are prominent figures in their rapidly gentrifying Brooklyn Neighborhood.  Prieto is a well-known congressman while Olga is an elite wedding planner.  Behind their glamorous public images personal struggles run deep, including the effects of abandonment by their mother Blanca, a former Young Lord turned political radical in pursuit of a militant cause.  Now, in the turbulent months surrounding Puerto Rico's most devastating hurricane, Blanca returns forcing Olga and Prieto to confront unresolved trauma and the true meaning of family and the American dream.

Books will be available to check out at the Bucktown-Wicker Park Branch circulation desk. This title may also be available on the Hoopla or Libby app.
