Join other aspiring authors this fall for Write at CPL, a series of workshops presented by our partners at Story Studio. This workshop will focus on From Premise to Promise and is led by Vu Tran.
At some point in a fiction writing project, whether at the start or halfway through, it can be helpful to step back, consider what we have, and give it a more purposeful shape that can illuminate and direct all the promise in the material. This involves formulating a premise, a clarifying distillation of the project’s most interesting and important aspects, which forces us to ask crucial questions about its most valuable character, its narrative and conceptual design, its central conflict and central dramatic question, etc. We’ll look at all the steps of this process, which ultimately includes an examination of ourselves and the 'essential something' that we want to express about who we are as a writer and a person in the world.
Due to limited space, registration is required.
