Summer of 1954, Federal agent Teddy Daniels arrives on Shutter Island, the island where Ashecliffe Hospital, a prison for the criminally insane, is located. Together with his partner, Chuck Aule, he sets out to find a missing patient, an assassin named Rachel Solando, as a hurricane batters the island. Nothing is what it seems, and Teddy begins to doubt everything: his memory, his partner, even his own sanity.
