Klezmer Music Concert with the Klezmonauts

2:30 PM – 3:30 PM
Walker

Description

Klezmer is an instrumental music tradition of the Ashkenazi Jews of Central and Eastern Europe, including dance tunes, ritual melodies, and improvisation. Jews were uprooted so frequently that the violin traveling easily became their comforting companion. Join The Klezmonauts, a 3-piece band of multi-talented Chicago area performers - Barb Silverman, Hank Scheff and Rick Veras - as they take you on a journey through this rich history via song. You'll learn about freylekhs, a lively circle or line dance in 4/4 rhythm and Khosidl (Klezmer swing) while engaged in this celebration of culture!
