Sewing: Guide to Hemming Pants

10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Sulzer Regional

Description

Join the Sulzer Sewing Team with Sewing Instructor Jessica Duhig for this two-hour workshop!

You will discover the basics of sewing in a fun and supportive environment! Participants can expect to learn how to take accurate measurements for altering pants, the double-fold and single-fold hem techniques and invisible hemming for dress pants.

Whether you're a beginner or looking to refresh your skills, this class will guide you step by step, leaving you with new confidence in sewing and hemming.

We ask attendees to please bring 1 or 2 pair of pants they can practice on.

Jessica Duhig has been honing her craft for over three decades. Inspired initially and taught as a child by her grandmothers and sewing teacher Florence Peck. She interned with Jess Audey at the Macy’s fashion incubator. In 2012 she launched BB&IDA where Jessica finally began to show her individual sense of style. Cultivating an avid following in Chicago, at trade shows and alt markets, Jessica identified her customer base and started to build her brand. In manufacturing, she focuses on durable, easy-to-wear pieces made with luxe and eco-friendly fabric for women of all sizes. In her bespoke items, she entertains a larger degree of whimsy and personalization, truly working with her client to ensure the piece is not just a representation of their requirements but also a garment that showcases her style and ingenuity.
