Carve It Up: A 3D Clay Carving Workshop

2:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Harold Washington Library Center

Description

The performing arts capture our attention and hold us in their grips. Join us as we study brilliant artists such as puppet maker Julie Taymor, who imagined and brought to life the characters for the Broadway show, The Lion King. Learn of costume designer Ruth E. Carter, who created for Wakanda in the Black Panther movies.

Finally, in our survey we will find ourselves transported by orchestra conductor, Marin Alsop who leads the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. Inspired by these female artists and using their works as foundations, as we will sculpt pieces of art in clay. Come join us for our play day with clay. The workshop will be taught by artist Anayansi Ricketts. There is a ten-minute grace period upon start of class when attending.
