View the partial solar eclipse at the library! A solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes between Earth and the sun. NASA estimates that the moon will obscure 95% of the sun, with a peak viewing time at 2:07 pm. This incredible astrological phenomenon won't be visible in the United States again for over twenty years.
Learn about the eclipse and view it safely; looking at the eclipse without eye protection will damage your eyes. Protective Eclipse Shades® from the Adler Planetarium will be distributed while supplies last.
Update: We are now out of solar eclipse glasses. None will be provided at this event.
