Author Mattie Lubchansky appears in conversation on their new book, Boys Weekend. This event is presented as part of CPL's Pride Month celebrations. Mattie will be joined by comic artist Tony Breed.
Mattie Lubchansky is a cartoonist and illustrator and the Associate Editor of Ignatz award-winning magazine and website The Nib. They are also an Ignatz winner, a Herblock Prize finalist, and the author of The Antifa Super-Soldier Cookbook. They live in beautiful Queens, NY, with their spouse.
Mattie's new book, Boys Weekend, is a hilarious trans-"final girl" horror graphic novel about a bachelor party gone very, very wrong. Part satire, part horror, Boys Weekend explores what it’s like to exist as a transfemme person in a man’s world, the difficulty of maintaining friendships through transition, and the more cult-like effects of masculinity, “hustle” culture, and capitalism—all through the vibrant lens of a surreal, scary, and immensely imaginative romp.
Tony Breed is the writer and artist behind Muddlers Beat, a queer slice-of-life comic about how life is what happens when you don't know what you're doing. He also created Finn & Charlie Are Hitched, about a gay married couple and their friends. When not making comics he DJs at Chicago's CHIRP Radio, works as a UX Architect, frets about the universe, and thinks about what he's going to eat next.
