Writing About Chicago Art: Ekphrastic Poetry Workshop

1:00 PM – 3:00 PM
Vodak-East Side

Description

“Ekphrasis” means description. An ekphrastic poem interacts – describes, reacts, expands upon – a work of art. In this workshop, we will examine ways to interact with art. Participants will then be provided with samples of traditional and contemporary artworks located in Chicago with which to practice.

Janine Harrison wrote the poetry collection Weight of Silence and chapbook If We Were Birds. She teaches creative writing at Calumet College of St. Joseph and serves on the Highland Arts Council.
