National Day of Racial Healing Discussion: The Sum of Us by Heather McGhee

1:00 PM – 2:00 PM
Woodson Regional

Observe the National Day of Racial Healing by joining other readers to discuss The Sum of Us: What Racism Costs Everyone and How We Can Prosper Together by Heather McGhee.

In this persuasive and well-researched work, political commentator McGhee argues that the pervasive idea of the zero-sum game and the false assumption that social and economic gains for some will come at a cost for others not only hurts people of color but everyone. McGhee demonstrates, through a series of historical examples, that structural racism negatively impacts everyone and offers readers a roadmap forward.
