Storytelling for Juneteenth and Beyond with Oba William King

Description

Oba William King, The Poetic Storyteller, shares interactive stories from history, folktales, myths, spirituals and tall tales with his engaging drumming woven into the mix. Oba shares stories like The Bridge; The Eagles Who Thought They Were Chickens; The Black Regiment of the Civil War - Stationed in Galveston, Texas; and many more. 

Join us in this celebration of Juneteenth being recognized as an official city holiday in Chicago, all while getting a preview of City of Stories: Summer at CPL 2022.

For kids 5 and up.

How to Attend

This event takes place in person. Due to space limitations, attendance may be limited.

We encourage those who are not vaccinated, may be immunocompromised or have family members who are immunocompromised to wear a mask, as well as residents under the age of 5 who are not yet eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine.
