Volunteers from Chicago CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) will be presenting information on disaster preparedness and staff from Chicago OEMC (Office of Emergency Management and Communication) will be on-hand to talk about the SMART 911 program.
GEAR UP GET READY focuses on educating and informing residents where they live, work, play and worship with the goal of getting them prepared for disasters. Being prepared and informed can help families and communities save lives and build community resilience.

September is National Emergency Preparedness Month and the Richard M. Daley Branch, along with community partners, wants to raise awareness about the importance of being prepared for disasters and emergencies that can happen at any time.
