DIY Insect Hotels with Lincoln Park Zoo

4:00 PM – 4:45 PM

Description

Join us and make your very own mini insect hotel! Lincoln Park Zoo will lead us through a how-to session.

Insect hotels provide habitats for important pollinators such as solitary bees, ladybugs, solitary wasps and butterflies. A diverse community of insects helps control pests and pollinate fruits, vegetables, trees, and flowers and you can help!

Things you may want to have with you to make a mini insect hotel:

  • A container of some type (tube or can)
  • Scissors
  • String, twine or yarn
  • Natural materials (twigs, pinecones)
  • Paper (newspaper, paper straw or magazines)
