Citywide After School: Sweet Treats

4:30 PM – 5:15 PM

Description

Join us for a special series of programs conducted by librarians from all over the city! Together we'll explore books, science, art and more!

For this session, Ms. Maura from the Woodson Regional Library will show partcipants how to make two sweet and tasty no-bake treats.

To take part in the hands-on activity, please gather the materials below ahead of time, but you are welcome to join us without the materials as well. A microwave will be used to make these treats so please plan to have adult supervision available.

Marshmallow Pops:

  • 1 bag of semisweet chocolate chips
  • Canola oil
  • 1 bag of marshmallows
  • Popsicle sticks
  • Tooppings such as sprinkles, chopped nuts, toasted coconut, etc

Homemade Crunch Cups/Bites:

  • 1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 2 teaspoons butter
  • rice cereal
  • Mini muffin tin (not required though if kids choose to make the bites instead of the cups.)

For school-aged kids 6 and up.
