Join The Taste of Sugar author Marisel Vera along with theatre-maker, culture worker, and daughter of the author, Alyssa Vera Ramos, as they explore literary themes in The Taste of Sugar, charting Boricua love, resilience, ingenuity, pleasure, and suffering through a time of immense environmental, colonial, and economic upheaval in Puerto Rico.
There will be a brief reading from the book, followed by a conversation between Marisel Vera and Alyssa Vera Ramos, and then a question and answer period with the audience.
