Join us virtually to paint your own hand-carved alebrije under the instruction of master-artist and Indigenous activist Carlos Orozco. Learn how to paint your own animal, skull, or mystical being alebrije in traditional Oaxacan style while also learning about Oaxacan culture, the sustainability practices of Indigenous peoples, and the beautiful artistic traditions of Mexico's Isthmus region.

How to Attend
This program will take place on Zoom but we will be providing kits containing materials to be used during this program. To register and request a kit be sent to your local branch of Chicago Public Library for pick up, please see the registration info to the right. Please let us know how many kits to send you (limit 2 per family) and which CPL branch you would like your materials sent to for pick up.
Each kit will contain paint brushes, paint, and a hand-carved small or medium alebrije to paint during this virtual class.
