Creative Community Care Practices Workshops with ArtWorks

6:00 PM – 7:30 PM

Description

People in apartment windows helping each other.

Explore a different art practice that promotes community care, accountability, and wellbeing each week with ArtWorks. This week we will create simple banners to inspire accountability, justice, and collective wellbeing using fabrics and craft materials. Participation in all three workshops in the series is encouraged, if possible, to support the development of communal care.

Required materials:

  • Fabric remnants
  • Adhesives
  • Scissors for cutting fabric

Optional materials:

  • Needle & thread
  • Decorative elements for fabric (felt; yarn, ribbon, beads)
  • Heat-n-Bond iron-on fabric adhesive
  • Fabric markers/fabric paint

The mission of ArtWorks community studio is to foster understanding between people, despite social differences, through collective art making. Each session is facilitated by the School of the Art Institute's Art Therapy Department in partnership with CPL's Maker Lab.
