Art Journaling for Well-Being with ArtWorks

6:00 PM – 7:30 PM

Description

Explore different ways to approach and make use of art-based journaling! ArtWorks guides us through process-oriented journaling by playing with materials and working spontaneously and intuitively. Participation in all three workshops in the series is encouraged, if possible, to support the development of communal care.

Required materials:

  • Something to use for a journal – a sketchbook, discarded book, or any book-type object (pamphlet, old magazine, etc.)
  • Mark-making materials – pens, pencils, oil pastels, markers, watercolors, etc.

Optional materials:

  • Paper materials that can be recycled – newspapers, magazines, wallpaper samples, postcards, mail, etc.
  • Basic sewing materials – fabric scraps, needle, thread
  • Gesso
  • Scissors
  • Adhesives – white glue, glue sticks, rubber cement, Mod Podge
  • Additional materials – dried flowers or plants, buttons, glitter or anything that is relatively flat

The mission of ArtWorks community studio is to foster understanding between people, despite social differences, through collective art making. Each session is facilitated by the School of the Art Institute's Art Therapy Department in partnership with CPL's Maker Lab.
