National Poetry Month Workshop: As It Is Written, So It Shall Be Done

11:00 AM – 12:00 PM
West Loop

Description

This writing workshop invites participants to explore the process of fate-fulfillment through writing. We will be looking at found texts and excerpts from writers and artists who write in the imperative—instruction manuals, Yoko Ono, etiquette books, Brian Eno’s Oblique Strategies and more. Through exploring the offerings of past voices, we are employing the time-bending property of writing to discover truth, fantasy, and intention. This workshop is open to ages 18 and over.

Natasha Mijares is curator of the Poetry Center of Chicago’s Six Points Poetry Series, a monthly poetry reading held at different locations around Chicago. She holds a MFA in Writing from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
