Join us for an exciting conversation on Afrofuturism with the woman who literally wrote the book on it! Author and filmmaker Ytasha L. Womack is a leading expert on Afrofuturism, the imagination and it’s applications. Her book Afrofuturism is the leading primer on the subject, and a Locus Awards Nonfiction Finalist. Her other books include the time travel novel series Rayla 2212. Her films include the Afrofuturist dance film A Love Letter to the Ancestors from Chicago, and she’s currently working on the feature film Bar Star City, featuring a bar in Chicago’s Southside that is a haven for galactic travelers. Her other works include Post Black, and Beats, Rhymes, and Life. Ytasha will be joined in conversation by Chicago Public Library librarian Ashley Rayner.
