What do we want Chicago to be like in the future? It's an ongoing conversation that happens today in small groups, conferences, and among a number of policy groups. Over the past 130 years or so, a range of speculative plans have been unveiled for everything from transit systems to elaborate urban renewal projects that were never completed. Author and historian Max Grinnell will talk about Frank Lloyd Wright's plans for a mile-high skyscraper, the plans for a unified Civic Center, and other projects that would have dramatically changed Chicago.
This program is a part of the 2018-2019 One Book, One Chicago season, exploring the theme Imagine The Future and the book Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Philip K. Dick. For more information on other events, visit www.onebookonechicago.org.
