Description

Sulzer Regional Library is excited to host our second annual Comic Fest! Local Chicago comic artists and creators will showcase their work at tables in our auditorium. Speak with creators, browse contemporary comics and zines, sign up for workshops, and attend a panel where we talk comics, art careers and more!

Workshops:

10:30 AM - Community Room - Corinne Mucha teaches art for toddlers and young children. Experiment with different art materials and see what you can make!

10:30 AM - YOUmedia 1st Floor - Fold, Bind, Publish! with Shellie Lewis. This all ages workshop teaches three easy methods to bring your zine or mini-book ideas to physical print copies.

12:00 PM - YOUmedia 1st Floor - Programming for Kids! with Megan Altman. Learn the ins and outs of computer programming to create video games and more.

1:00 PM - YOUmedia 1st Floor - Much Ado About Monsters with Kera Ling. This hour-long workshop explores monstrous character designs, referencing Western and Eastern mythologies, literature, and pop culture to give terrifying form to the artist's personal demons. Covering character design, dynamic gestures, and compelling textures and patterns, we will learn how to craft unique monsters that bring stories of battle or reconciliation to life.

3:00 PM - YOUmedia 1st Floor. DIY Comics with Leslie Perrine. Drop in between 3-4pm and try your hand at making your own diy comic! We'll create our own characters and make tiny comic books to take home about them. Just bring is your creativity and ideas! All ages welcome.


Panel:

1:00 PM in the Community Room. Max Bare, Leslie Perrine, Delia Jean, and Courtney Cusack talk art, comics, school, work, life, and what it means to be a comic artist.
