Description

A panel discussion on the relevance of Afrofuturism and characters like the Black Panther, Black Lightning, Storm etc. and their impact on the African American community, particularly our youth will be held in the auditorium of the Woodson Regional Library. The panelists for this promising program includes Chelsea Frazier, a Ph.D. candidate from Northwestern University's African American Studies Department along with cultural anthropologist and comic book artist, Stanford Carpenter, Ph.D., Ytasha Womack and Jiba Anderson, authors of Afrofuturism and the Horsemen respectively. Moderating will be a former radio, TV personality and our very own local community media marketing wizard, Rachell Montgomery of The Ultimate-TV fame. This special event will be hosted by the Adult Reference staff and will coincide with the activities planned for the 2nd grand re-opening of the library.
