Todd Mayfield is Curtis Mayfield's second-oldest son, and recently wrote the definitive biography of his father, Traveling Soul: The Life of Curtis Mayfield. Born into dire poverty, raised in the slums of Chicago, Curtis became a musical prodigy, not only singing like a dream but also growing into a brilliant songwriter. In the 1960s Curtis became a pioneer, opening his own label and production company and working with many other top artists, including the Staple Singers. Today, is son Todd is an entrepreneur and former financial services executive in Chicago, and manages and promotes his father's music and legacy.

Doors to the Cindy Pritzker Auditorium will open at 5pm and seating is available first come, first served. Books are available for purchase and the author will autograph books at the conclusion of the program.
