Description

Forgotten Chicago returns with a presentation on Chicago's Arcade History! Classic arcade games from the 1980s like Pac-Man are now in vogue, but did you know that many of these machines were made in the Chicago area? Furthermore, many arcade games were designed and programmed by local Chicagoans.
Join us as we discuss this relatively unknown aspect of Chicago history. We'll talk about the designers, the companies, and the physical locations of the manufacturers, including buildings that are still standing to this day. Additionally, we'll talk about Chicago's rich pinball industry, which gave birth to the arcade industry here, the reasons these industries located in Chicago, and other historic tidbits.
Many photos and visuals will accompany the presentation. Afterwards, be sure to stop in and play a few vintage games at Uptown Arcade just down the street!

This program is generously funded by the Friends of Bezazian.
