David Simas, CEO of the Chicago-based Obama Foundation, discusses his life and work, along with current activities and future plans of the Obama Foundation. He appears in conversation with CPL Commissioner Brian Bannon.
A Taunton, Mass., native, Simas received a bachelor's degree in political science from Stonehill College and received his Juris Doctor degree from Boston College Law School. In 2007, he was appointed Deputy Chief of Staff to Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick. In 2009, Simas joined the Obama administration as a Deputy Assistant to the President working with senior advisers David Axelrod and David Plouffe. Simas then served as Director of Opinion Research for President Obama's re-election. Following the re-election, he returned to the White House as Assistant to the President and Director of the Office of Political Strategy and Outreach.
The Cindy Pritzker Lecture on Urban Life and Issues is presented by the Board of Directors of Chicago Public Library in honor of Cindy Pritzker, its former president and founder of the Chicago Public Library Foundation.

Seating in the Cindy Pritzker Auditorium is first come, first served until the space is filled. If the Cindy Pritzker Auditorium fills to capacity, guests will then be seated in an overflow space and view the event by live simulcast. Upon arrival, guests must check in at tables located in the first floor Grand Lobby. Check-in and access to the Cindy Pritzker Auditorium will begin at 5 p.m. This event does not include a book signing.
