Carolyn Enger: The Mischlinge Expose

12:15 PM – 1:15 PM
Harold Washington Library Center

Description

A lyrical and dynamic pianist, Carolyn Enger returns to the Library with a personal, multi-media tapestry that recalls a little-known facet of the Holocaust: the "Mischlinge," a derogatory Nazi term for those people neither fully Jewish nor fully Aryan. She performs music of German or Jewish-born composers from the salon period just before World War II, while interweaving stories of her own father and godmother.
