Nothing special here. If you are having trouble falling asleep, watch this movie.

Lumpish, unappealing Mark Duplass meets beguiling Rosemarie DeWitt in isolated cabin, night of love ensues, then... This movie hasn't much wit or brilliance going for it, although the two female leads do their best. Drink a lot of wine before watching this.

Excellent indie film filmed in beautiful Washington state coast. Has a realistic feel that few American films have. Love the scene of the main protagonist riding his cheap bike around the island. Interesting, though, that he needed to destroy his bike to finally grow up emotionally. It says much about American culture.

It's okay. It was a bit of a snooze fest.

I learned what a mumblecore film is, after watching this. Although the mumblecorps on the commentary are self-absorbed with their process, I still enjoyed the film. Authentic without being boring.

Improvisation should be used to develop dialogue, but here the director appears to have used it to replace written dialogue, which ends up causing it to sound forced and unnatural.

These are fine actors, who do the best they can with what they're given, but I found this overwrought.

A slow starter, this indie film found a decent pace in the end, coming to a head when secrets are revealed. After the death of his brother Tom, Jack is suffering, and help comes in the form of Tom's ex-girlfriend Iris, played by the always lovely Emily Blunt. Rosemarie Dewitt of Mad Men fame plays Iris's sister, Hannah, a lesbian whose latest relationship has fallen apart. When Iris sends her friend Jack up to their family cottage to clear his head, Jack doesn't expect to find Hannah there. Hijinks (if you can call them that) ensue. This dramedy felt independent, but the vibe was good in the end and it was ultimately heartfelt. My only complaint? The pacing. The first half hour of YOUR SISTER'S SISTER is a slow burn, a whole lot of nothing until Iris shows back up, making the already brief ninety-minute flick hold the potential to be better if it was even shorter than its minute running time. For people who don't need the mainstream glitz, I'd recommend this film.

Good acting and a feel-good indie vibe. The story is original and creative, but ultimately becomes predictible.
