This is an incredible book, I shall start my summary with that! I have seen the first two movies and am anxiously awaiting the last two. I have read all the books and I have varying opinions on them. The Hunger Games, amazing, Catching Fire, great plot but the ending where Katniss essentially goes crazy, well it sort of sucked. Mockingjay, I didn't really enjoy this one as much. It was much more focused on the war and personally I found it too violent and overall disappointing. The movies were very good and they followed the books well, although the end of the Catching Fire movie I liked much more. Really though, you should read and watch for yourself. But if you want my opinion, this is it; I loved it, you should read it!

such a good book

Since I both watched the film and read the book afterwards, The Hunger Games is the best book I’ve ever read, since my interest is on books that take place in a post-apocalyptic society. Since the film excluded many details about the book through Suzanne’s point of view, we could still understand, and, as always, a book is better than a movie. I can certainly see why the book was such a hit. The novel struck many chords and many themes (teenage anguish, love, work, poverty and more), was an easy and quick read, as well as full of action, since many people think The Hunger Games and Divergent are the same, which is both true and false, since there’s fighting and romance, plus a post-apocalyptic society, but The Hunger Games has more action into the book since many characters die in the book. For me though, and I understand perfectly, well I’m the target audience, the love triangle was cliché, but I loved the violence and speed of this novel. The constant suspense kept me turning page after page as, I assume, most of those who read the book. Once I got over my name prejudice, I even liked the protagonist – a bow and arrow wielding female Wilhelm Tell, how can you not like her? Therefore, this is why I like The Hunger Games more than Divergent, and I hope to see Mockingjay, part 1 this year, since it’s the climax of the first book, and hopefully, I could read Mockingjay someday………..

katniss is the best archer in the world .

Crazily Awe-some! Can't wait for the sequel. Highly recommended! This book is an original dystopian thriller with such amazing plot line and characters. The Capitol VS The Districts is such a well planned out "war".

This book is very unique and well written. The world drew me in, and the characters were so well developed that they seemed real. The plot was also well thought out and totally unique.

I loved how the series itself spurred the development of the dystopian trilogy genre which happens to be one of my favorite genres.

I waited for a long time to read the Hunger games, it wasn't until the second movie Catching Fire was being advertised in theathers did I actually pick up the book and read it. I wasn't disappointed in this first book. I really enjoyed Katniss' character, I like the idea of a secret love from Peeta and I like the fight for survial, the struggle to live. I thought that Suzanne Collins did a really good job in the first installment of this series. And I brought with me to this series my expections from her Gregor the overlander books.

There is a futurist world, that used to be North America, called Panem. Panem consists of twelve districts and one Capitol. The Capitol controls and rules all of the Districts, and they have done so for 74 years, ever since the Dark Days when the districts tried to rebel against the Capitol. As the districts punishment for rebelling, and to make sure a rebellion will never happen again, the Capitol forces one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen from all twelve districts to fight to the death on national television for everyone to watch. It a way for the Capitol to show the Districts who is really in control and has power. In District 12 during the 74th annual Hunger Games, Katniss Everdeen, a girl who lost her father in a mining innocent, and has been forced to take care of her family single-handly, steps up to take her younger sister, Prim's place in the games. Katniss and the male tribute from district 12, Peeta Mellark, must venture into the Hunger Games, and be prepared for anything.

The Hunger Games is definitely an incredible story! Katniss Everdeen is thrown into the games against Peeta Mellark and other tributes. Never in her life has she felt so confused weighing the meanings of life: survival or love. This book teached us that love is powerful, like Katniss, it made her do crazy things. It's a must-read!

This book encourages the reader to cheer for the underdog. It is a great motivation for female heroines. Katniss the main character allows readers to see that girls can show courage, ingenuity, quick thinking skills, athleticism, along with empathy, and friendship.

In the distant future lies Panem, and all it's outlying districts. The ruler of all these districts is the Capitol, the cruel government of Panem. In the past years, the Capitol has went through what they call the "Dark Days". The Dark Days was when the surrounding districts decided to rise up against the Capitol, forcing the Capitol to fight back. The Capitol won, therefore naming the time of rebellion the "Dark Days". Now, to keep the order and chaos in check, the Capitol forces each of the 12 districts to choose one boy and one girl to participate in the annual Hunger games. Each one of the contestants in the Hunger Games are called "Tributes". The Hunger Games is a televised death match that airs on live TV. The winner of the Hunger Games is granted mass wealth and food for their district. There can only be one victor in the Hunger Games. Katniss Everdeen is caught right in the middle of all this when her beloved sister - the being that Katniss loves with all her heart - is selected to represent her district in the 74th Annual Hunger Games.

Deep in the meadow, under the willow
A bed of grass, a soft green pillow
Lay down your head, and close your sleepy eyes
And when again they open, the sun will rise.

Here it's safe, here it's warm
Here the daisies guard you from every harm
Here your dreams are sweet and tomorrow brings them true
Here is the place where I love you.

Deep in the meadow, hidden far away
A cloak of leaves, a moonbeam ray
Forget your woes and let your troubles lay
And when again it's morning, they'll wash away.

Here it's safe, here it's warm
Here the daisies guard you from every harm
Here your dreams are sweet and tomorrow brings them true
Here is the place where I love you.

Cast: Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Lenny Kravitz, Wes Bentley, Toby Jones, Alexander Ludwig, Isabelle Fuhrman, Amandla Stenberg, Stanley Tucci, Donald Sutherland Every year in the ruins of what was once North America, the nation of Panem forces each of its twelve districts to send a teenage boy and girl to compete in the Hunger Games. Part twisted entertainment, part government intimidation tactic, the Hunger Games are a nationally televised event in which "Tributes" must fight with one another until one survivor remains. Pitted against highly-trained Tributes who have prepared for these Games their entire lives, Katniss is forced to rely upon her sharp instincts as well as the mentorship of drunken former victor Haymitch Abernathy. If she's ever to return home to District 12, Katniss must make impossible choices in the arena that weigh survival against humanity and life against love. THE HUNGER GAMES is directed by Gary Ross, with a screenplay by Gary Ross and Suzanne Collins and Billy Ray, and produced by Nina Jacobson's Color Force in tandem with producer Jon Kilik. Suzanne Collins' best-selling novel, the first in a trilogy published by Scholastic that has over 16 million copies in print in the United States alone, has developed a massive global following. It has spent more than 160 consecutive weeks/more than three consecutive years to date on The New York Times bestseller list since its publication in September 2008, and has also appeared consistently on USA Today and Publishers Weekly bestseller lists.
