Shows Capote had a fine flair for manipulation. Next: featurettes and 2 Commentaries.

2005. A riveting story how Truman Capote wrote his book IN COLD BLOOD. He was obsessed with the involved parties and killers but for his own book-writing selfishness. He was a brilliant writer but his own life mess, drug use and…

Famed author Truman Capote befriends two murderers while researching his cerebrated book (In Cold Blood), and finds himself changed to the core, but the film fails to deliver the changed-to-the-core moments.

This is as much about the effect that writing “In Cold Blood” had on Truman Capote as it is about the author himself. He was brought face-to-face with himself, as he both became friends with a murderer and simultaneously yearned for him to…

We watched both movies about Capote and then watched the movie In Cold Blood. I had read the book in and watched the move in 1968. I can also remembering seeing Capote on the late night programs and wondered how this strange little…

This movie was a fascinating portrayal of an important event in Truman Capote's life; his researching and writing his best selling book "In Cold Blood". Philip Seymour Hoffman delivers a fantastic performance in the title role. I would…

Found it too slow paced. I was distracted by big tall Philip Seymour Hoffman whom I had seen in many other movies playing short little Truman Capote by some form of modern movie magic. I am however intrigued by it so I will give the novel…

Hoffman was excellent choice for Capote. Dialog was hard to understand with his mumbling. Capote never wrote another book after Cold Blood. Many years ago Robert Blake portrayed Perry Smith in Cold Blood. Special features interesting.…

A bleak portrayal of Truman Capote's literary involvement in the Clutter killing aftermath in western Kansas. It's a little quiet, a little dry, but electrified by Philip Seymour Hoffman's outstanding performance. Way beyond just a…

A fascinating character study and riveting crime drama centered around Philip Seymour Hoffman, who justifiably won the Academy Award for his spot-on portrayal of the quirky, affected author Truman Capote. Here we find Capote fresh off the…

Hoffman was brilliant. I'm old enough to remember Capote on the talk show circuit and whatnot. Hoffman nails it. The overall story is well done, too. Great biopic. Fix yourself some fancy hors d'oeuvres, make a nice cheese plate, pour…

Phillip Seymour Hoffman was riveting, and the supporting characters were excellent. The film captured that chapter of Capote's life in a very compelling way.

Excellent movie. I can see why Seymour won best actor. I'll probably read the book now. Ann Rule is a great true crime writer so it should be interesting what I think of the book In Cold Blood.

I thought this movie was great and mourn the loss of a great actor, Why are all the good ones hooked on drugs?

It's a solid film but you're watching it for Hoffman's performance. The transformation is amazing and is a sad reminder of what we're never going to see on film again.

Philip Seymour Hoffman gives a standout performance, but I can't call this a great movie. It is an interesting portrayal of self-indulgence and voyeurism. Like Hoffman, I remember Capote from the talk show circuit as a wonderful…

Enjoyed this movie. Was surprised because I thought it would be more about Capote's entire life BUT was in fact about the most significant part of his life. Philip Seymour Hoffman was great as was Mary Keener. Dan Futterman, who I have…

Amazing! This movie is a gripping tale about the research and writing done by Truman Capote for his acclaimed book, "In Cold Blood". This is an artistic movie with talented actors about the traumatic events that motivated Capote, who was…

Surprisingly I didn't think I would like Philip-Seymour Hoffman's Capote more than Tobey Jones'. I was so very wrong. Hoffman plays a deeper, more soulful, and emotional portrayal and it's utterly convincing. He says more with his eyes…

It was interesting to see Capote's perspective on the crime and the murderers, although I've been told certain elements in the movie are incorrect.
